When faced with a significant decision, sometimes big-picture thinking is the way to go. To stay true to your goal, which course of action will serve you better? According to Gretchen Rubin, if you want to achieve your true desire, choose the bigger life.

There are no right or wrong answers, just those that correspond with your gut feeling. Here are some questions to ask:

Does this decision follow my commitment to be me?

Which decision is more likely to lead to long-term happiness?

If I had to decide right now in a split second, which one would it be?

Which choice reflects true love for yourself?

Is there another choice I haven’t considered?

If you’re faced with a tough decision, especially one between instant gratification and long-term satisfaction, say to yourself, “Choose the bigger life.”
