Quick Note: It’s Not About You

Did someone give you the finger while you were out driving? How about the eye roll from your server when you last went out for coffee? It’s easy to get offended. You might be tempted to react or vent to someone about it later on.

Maybe take it for a grain of salt and realize it had nothing to do with you. There might have been something going on in someone’s life for them to behave the way they did. It might have been out of character for them. Unfortunately, you happened to be in the crosshairs.

If the person making the annoyed gesture or comment is someone you know, consider asking how they’re doing. Maybe they need some empathy. Otherwise, try to view the behavior with a bit of compassion.

And don’t take it personally.
